Thos. M. Brandt, 80, Dies in Havre

 

   Thos. M. Brandt, 80, for many y ears a prominent figure in and around Joplin until he moved to Havre, died in a Havre hospital last Friday.

   Mr. Brandt was born at Port By­ron, Illinois, May 4, 1872. He was married to Mary Flynn at Adair, Iowa in 1900. His wife preceded him in death in 1919.

   He homesteaded south of Joplin and farmed there for several years. He took a great interest in the Joplin schools, served on the Board of Trustees for several years and was I clerk of the school board at the time of his retirement. He was manager of the Equity Co-operative Com­pany in Joplin for a good many years.

   Hs is survived by two sons, Paul of Dallas, Texas, and Ralph of Al­exandria, Virginia; three daughters, Mrs. Walter Parr of Amarillo, Texas, Mrs. Earl Hanson and Mrs. Rosalie Hoyer of Havre; a brother George of Port Byron, Illinois; a sister, Mrs. Ricco Rice of Oakland, California; and nine grandchildren.
