Russell T. Olson

 

  HAVRE -- Russell T. Olson, 85, a longtime Hill County rancher, died of natural causes Thursday at a Havre hospital.

  His funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday at Edwards Funeral Home chapel in Chinook, with burial in Kuper Memorial Cemetery.

  Survivors include daughters Anna Rae Miller and Rita Grabofsky, both of Chinook, Coleen Leeds of Wenatchee, Wash., and Bonnie Williamson of Havre; sisters Elsa Pomeroy and Janet Olson of Chinook; a brother, Harry Olson of Chinook; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

  His wife, Marjorie Thompson Olson, died in 1990.

  Russell Olson, 85, lifetime Bear Paw rancher, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at a Havre hospital due to natural causes. 

  Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Chinook with burial following in Kuper Memorial Cemetery. 

  Russell was born April 28, 1917, in Chinook to Fred and Martha (Solomon) Olson. He grew up in the Bear Paws and attended the Faber School for his elementary education. He attended high school in Havre. 

  He married Marjorie Thompson on May 29, 1940, in Fort Benton. Russell lived and ranched in the Bear Paws his entire life. His life evolved around his family, friends, ranch and his herd of Hereford cows.

  He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie in 1990; parents, Fred and Martha; brother, Edward Olson; sisters, Edith Olson, Marie Grant, Elizabeth Hill and Ruth Hofeldt.

   Survivors include his daughters, Anna Rae (Lee) Miller of Chinook, Colleen (Phil) Leeds of Wenatchee, Wash., Bonnie (Russell) Williamson of Havre, Rita (Rick) Grabofsky of Chinook; brother, Harry Olson, and sisters, Elsa Pomeroy and Janet Olson, all of Chinook; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 

  Memorials are suggested to one’s choice.

   Russell Olson, 85, died of natural causes at the Northern Montana Hospital in Havre on Thursday, August 29, 2002. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday (today), September 4, in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Kuper Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to one’s choice. Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.

   Russell was born on April 28, 1917, •in Chinook to Fred and Martha (Solomon) Olson. He grew up in the Bear Paws and attended Faber School for his elementary education. He at­tended high school in Havre.

Colleen and her husband Phil Leeds of Wenatchee, WA, Bonnie and her husband Russell Williamson of Havre, and Rita and her husband Rick Grabofsky of Chinook; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grand­children; a brother, Harry (Collette) Olson of Chinook; and sisters, Elsa Pomeroy and Janet Olson, both of Chinook.

   He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie in 1990; a brother, Edward Olson; and four sisters, Edith Olson, Marie Grant, Elizabeth Hill, and Ruth Hofeldt.
