ROBERT G. KIPP

  HAVRE - Robert G. Kipp, 84, a retired railway worker and Army veteran, died of natural causes Thursday at a Havre care center.

  A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home of Havre. Memorials are suggested to Gift of Life Family Housing Center, Benefis Healthcare Foundation, P.O. Box 7008, Great Falls, MT 59403-7008.

  He was born Aug. 28, 1916, in Stillwater County, and grew up in Park City and Great Falls. He graduated from Great Falls High School in 1934.

  He went to work for the Great Northern Railway in 1935. After serving in the Army from 1942-45, he returned to his job with the railroad until retiring in 1976.

  He married Mauguerite Mason in Malta in 1941. After her death, he moved to Havre, where  he married Dorothy Burrington on April 11, 1971. She died in 1996.

  He was a charter member of the Havre Veterans of Foreign Wars 5590, and a member of the West Great Falls Post, Havre VFW Post and Eagles Lodge. He was a retired member of the Carman's Railroad AMD and served as an officer in the Great Falls Carman Union for many years.

  He enjoyed storytelling, visiting and camping.

  Survivors include four stepchildren, Amber Welch of Great Falls, James A. Burrington of Havre, Danny V. Burrington of Seattle and Mitch Burrington of Kalispell; a brother, L. H. Kipp of Washington State; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

ROBERT  KIPP

  Kipp was born Aug. 28, 1916 to Clyde N. and Bertha (Grover) Kipp in Stillwater County. He spent his early years in Park City, then moved to Great Falls, where he finished his education in local schools.  He graduated from Great Falls High School in 1934.

  Iin 1935, Kipp went to work for the Great Northern Railway.  He retired in 1976.

  He married Mauguerite Mason in Malta in 1941. After her death, he moved to Havre, where  he married Dorothy Burrington on April 11, 1971.

  Kipp  served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 in Africa and Italy. After his honorable discharge, he went back to work for the railroad.

  Kipp was a  story teller with humor who enjoted  visiting with family and friends. He also enjoyed  camping and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

  He was a charter member of the Havre VFW 5590, West Great Falls Post,and a life member of the  Havre VFW Post and a member of the Eagles. He was a retired member of the Carman's Railroad AMD and served many years as an officer in the Great Falls Carman Union.

  Kipp was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Marguerite Kipp; second wife, Dorothy Kipp, who died Jan. 31, 1996; sister, E.L. Sabol.

  Survivors include his  brother, L. H. Kipp of Washington State;  stepchildren, Amber Welch of Great Falls, James A. Burrington of Havre, Danny V. Burrington of Seattle and Mitch Burrington of Kalispell; numerous  step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
