Robert D. Cron

 

†††† Troy -- Robert D. Cron, 85, of Troy, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 1996 in Stouder Memorial Hospital, Troy.

†††† Born in Piqua on Sept. 20, 1910, he was the son of the late Jackson C. and Stella Irene Denman Cron.

†††† He married Mary K. Washing Cron on April 2, 1938.She survives.

†††† Other survivors include on daughter, Mrs. Gerald Wessels (Carolyn) of Lincoln, Ill., and two grandchildren.

†††† He is preceded in death by one sister, and two brothers.

†††† Mr. Cron was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Troy.

†††† He graduated from Piqua High School and the Ohio State University in 1934.He was also a graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science.

†††† He retired in 1974 as Funeral Director of the J.C. Cron and Sons Funeral Home in Piqua and Troy.

†††† He served in World War II and was a Army veteran.

†††† He was a member of Franklin Lodge #14 Free and Accepted Masons, Troy, and on the Emeritus Board of Director for the Peoples Savings Bank.

†††† Services will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, Chapel, Troy, with the Rev. Edward Sensenbrenner officiating.Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua, at the convience of the family.

†††† Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami Co., or to the First Presbyterian Church, Troy.

Services Sunday for Robert Cron

 

†††† Troy -- A former funeral director from Troy died Wednesday afternoon at Stouder Memorial Hospital.

†††† Robert D. Cron, 85, of 1311 W. Stony Creek Road, died Wednesday.He previously served as funeral director for the J.C. Cron and Sons Funeral Homes in Piqua and Troy.He retired in 1974.

†††† Mr. Cron was a graduate of Piqua High School, The Ohio State University and was a 1934 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science.

†††† In addition to his responsibilities as funeral director, he previously served on the board of directors for Peoples Savings Bank and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Troy, where he was a former deacon and elder.He was a member of the Franklin Lodge F&AM of Troy and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

†††† He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

†††† Mr. Cron is survived by his wife, Mary K. (Washing) Cron; one daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Carolyn) Wessels of Lincoln, Ill; and two grandchildren.

†††† Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church chapel in Troy with the Rev. Edward Sensenbrenner officiating.Burial will be held in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua, at the convenience of the family.There will be no public visitation.

†††† Contributions can be made to Hospice of Miami County, the First Presbyterian Church or to the donorís favorite charity.
