Reuben Holeman came to Ill. at the
age of 19. For sometime he clerked in
the store of his brother-in-law Mr.
Chambers at Berwick, Ill. He then
went back to Ind. where he married
Susannah Crabb in 1844. Three years
later came to Warren Co., Ill. to
live where he bought a farm & continued
to live where he resided until his
death. His wife died in 1892. They
were the parents of 15 children,
three girls and 12 boys, 7 of whom died
in infancy. After the death of his
wife the one surviving daughter, Mrs.
A. E. Carr kept house for him. Three of the sons lived in the far west
and Boone, Orville, Theodore and
Albert were at home. He was a member of
the Christian Church and for many
years served as a deacon in that
Church. The funeral was conducted by Elder A. P. Allen with burial at
Grenbush.
