Peter
J. Siemens
- Former farmer and rancher Peter J. Siemens,
88, of Harlem, died Friday at a Chinook care facility of natural causes.
His funeral is 2 p.m. Monday at Harlem High
School's little gym, with burial in Harlem Cemetery. Edwards Funeral Home of
Chinook is handling arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Siemens of
Harlem; daughters Peggy Zavalney of Bozeman, Penny Snider of Harlem and
Patricia Ruff of Belgrade; a son, Patrick Siemens of Big Fork; 14
grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
A son, Peter Siemens, died in 1972

HARLEM - Peter Jacob Siemens, 88, died
Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at a Chinook nursing home due to natural causes.
Funeral services were set for 2 p.m. today
in the Harlem High School gymnasium. A horse-drawn hearse will escort the
family and friends to the Harlem Cemetery.
Peter was born Feb. 26, 1914, to Jacob and
Marie (Klatt) Siemens on the homestead north of Chinook. He was raised and
attended country school north of Chinook.
Peter married Edna Braunstadter on Feb. 26,
1942, in Great Falls.
Pete was a well-known cowboy in the area and
broke many horses over the years. Many of the horses he broke in the early 1940s
were sold to the cavalry during World War II. Pete also worked construction in
Bozeman for five years and returned to Harlem when he retired.
Peter was preceded in death by his son,
Peter Jacob Siemens Jr. in 1972.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Siemens of
Harlem; daughters, Peggy (George) Zavalney of Bozeman, Penny (Roger) Snider of
Harlem, Patricia (Todd) Ruff of Belgrade; son, Patrick (Wilma) Siemens of
Bigfork; sisters, Martha Rutherford of Redding, Calif., and Eva LaFranchise of
Portland, Ore.; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six
stepgreat-grandchildren numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of
Chinook.

Siemens
Peter Jacob Siemens, 88, went to ride the
big open skies on October 18, 2002, when he died of natural causes at the Sweet
Memorial Nursing Home in Chinook. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on
Monday, October 21, in the Little Gym of the Harlem High School. A horse drawn
hearse escorted the family and friends to Petes final resting place next to
his sons grave in the Harlem Cemetery. Arrangements were by Edwards Funeral
Home of Chinook.
Pete, the youngest of nine children born to
Jacob and Marie (Klatt) Siemens, was born on February 26, 1914, on the familys
homestead north of Chinook. He was raised arid educated in country schools
north of Chinook.
A well-known cowboy in this area, Pete
broke many horses over the years and in the 1940s many of the horses he broke
were sold to the Calvary to be used during World War II. He will always be
remembered for his love of horses and animals.
On February 26, 1942, Pete married Edna
Braunstadter in Great Falls and together they raised five children. He worked
on construction in Bozeman for five years, returning to Harlem when he retired.

Harlem; three daughters, Peggy (George) Zavalney of Bozeman, Penny (Roger)
Snider of Harlem, and Patricia (Todd) Ruff of Belgrade; a son, Patrick (Wilma)
Siemens of Big Fork; two sisters, Martha Rutherford of Redding, CA and Eva
LaFranchise of Portland, OR; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; six
great grandchildren; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Peter
Jacob Siemens, Jr. in 1972.
