Martha 'Peggy' Emerson
CHINOOK -- Martha "Peggy"
(Lux) Emerson, 98, a homemaker, died of natural causes Tuesday at a Chinook
nursing home.
Memorial graveside services are 2
p.m. Friday in Harlem Cemetery. Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook is in charge of
arrangements.
Survivors include a stepdaughter,
Cora Benson of Fort Benton; sons Robert Rasmussen and Donald Rasmussen of
Harlem; a sister, Ann Purdy of Mount Vernon, Wash.; three grandchildren, five
step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by
husbands Arthur Rasmussen in 1965 and Miles Emerson in 1971.

HARLEM -- Martha "Peggy" Emerson, 98, passed away Tuesday,
Nov. 6, 2001 at a Chinook nursing home of natural causes.
Memorial grave-side services will be
2 p.m. Friday in the Harlem Cemetery.
Peggy was born April 23, 1903, in Lair, N.D., Fred and Sarah (Bertsch)
Lux. She attended schools in North
Dakota and Havre. She came to Hill County in 1914 with her family. They settled
in Blaine County in 1920.
Peggy married Arthur Rasmussen on April 2, 1923, in Harlem. They lived
on the Rasmussen farm south of Harlem until moving into Harlem in 1936.
Rasmussen died in 1965 and she married Miles Emerson in 1968. Emerson died in
1971 and she lived in Chinook and Havre before moving to the Sweet Nursing Home
in 1998.
She spent her winter months in California from 1940 to 1990.
Peggy enjoyed gardening and bowling.
She was a charter member of the VFW Post #4744 and a member of the
Harlem American Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her sons,
Robert Rasmussen and Donald Rasmussen both of Harlem; stepdaughter, Cora Benson of Fort Benton; sister, Ann Purdy of
Mount Vernon, Wash.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandchild; five step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Memorials may be sent to the Harlem American Lutheran Church.
Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.

November 6, 2001 at the Sweet Memorial Nursing Home in Chinook. Memorial
graveside services will be held on , November 9, at 2:00 p.m. in the Harlem Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to
the Harlem American Lutheran Church. Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home
of Chinook.
Peggy was born April 23, 1903, in Lair, Noryh Dakota, to Fred and Sarah
(Bertsch) Lux. She attended schools in
North Dakota and Havre, MT. She came to Hill County in 1914, and they settled
in Blaine County (in 1920). On April 2, 1923, she married Arthur Rasmussen in
Harlem and they lived on the Rasmussen farm south of Harlem until moving into
Harlem in 1936. Arthur died in 1965.
In 1968 she married Miles Emerson, he passed away in 1971. Peggy lived
in Chinook and Havre before moving to the Sweet Memorial Nursing Home in 1998.
She spent her winter months in California from 1940 to 1990 and she enjoyed
gardening and bowling. She was a chapter member of the VFW Auxiliary Post
#4744, and a member of the Harlem
American Lutheran Church.
