Howard Pond
"Tom" Egbert
HELENA - Howard Pond "Tom" Egbert,
71, a Harlem native, died of natural
causes Tuesday at
Fort Harrison Veterans Hospital.
Services and burial will be in St. Anthony,
Idaho. Memorials are suggested to
the hospital.
He was born Dec. 25, 1924, in Harlem, and
graduated from Harlem High School
in 1943. He served
in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.
In 1945 he married Helen Bye in Harlem, and
they farmed in the area. In 1965
they moved to
Sunburst, where he worked for the state highway department. They
moved to Rock
Springs, Wyo., where he lived until moving to Helena last year.
Egbert was a member of the Church of
Latter-day Saints, Veterans of Foreign
Wars, and enjoyed
hunting, fishing, horses. He was a licenced pilot and enjoyed
flying.
Survivers include his wife of Harlem; three
children, Greg Egbert of Helena,
Rita Richman of
Harlem and Tammy Point of Thayme, Wyo.; his mother Myrtle of
Salt Lake City;
brothers, Art Egbert of Big Timber, Ace Egbert of Rock Springs,
Wyo.; sisters, June
Ballou of Murray, Utah, Barbara May of Twin Falls, Idaho,
Eva baker of Salt
Lake City, Phyliss Miller of the Dalles, Ore., and Myrna
Carter of Chester,
Idaho; and five grandchildren.
A son Ross Egbert, has died.
