Ocie A. Schend
CHINOOK -- Hill County native Ocie A. Schend, 65, died on Friday, March
18,
1983 at her Chinook home after a
short illness.
Born at Fresno, south of Havre, she attended schools there and in Havre.
She
married Frank Schend in 1937 at
Havre. They moved to Chinook in 1938 and farmed
near here since 1965.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Frank Schend, Jr., Great Falls, and
Mike
Schend, Salt Lake City, Utah; two
daughters, Mrs. John (Beatrice) Erickson,
Havre and Mrs. Chuck (Linda) Thompson, Hamilton; a sister,
Gloria Allison,
Salt Lake City, Utah and eight
grandchildren.

Ocie A. Schend, of Chinook died Friday at her home in Chinook.
Rosary will be Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral
Chapel.
Mass will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church and
burial
will be in the Kuper Memorial
Cemetery.
Mrs. Schend was born on June 30, 1917 in Fresno, Mont., and she
attendede
schools at Fresno and Havre. She
married Frank Schend May 24, 1937 in Havre.
They were engaged in the family
farming operation since 1965 and have lived in
Chinook since 1938.
She was a member Altar Society, was secretary of the Square Dancing Club
for
many years and was an election judge
during balloting in Blaine County.
She is survived by her husband Frank Sr., Chinook; two sons, Frank Jr.,
Great
Falls, and Mike, Salt Lake City; two
daughters, Mrs. John(Beatrice) Erickson,
Havre, and Mrs. Chuck (Linda)
Thompson, Hamilton; one sister, Gloria Allison,
Salt Lake City; and eight
grandchildren.
Memorials have been established to the American Cancer Society and Sweet
Nursing Home in Chinook.

Funeral held Monday for Ocie Schend

Rosary for Ocie Schend was recited Sunday evening at the Edwards Funeral
Chapel. Mass was Monday March 12 at
St. Gabriel's Catholic Church with Father
Janson officiating. Burial was at
Kuper Memorial Cemetery.
Bearers included Guy Downs, Fritz Helnle, Chuck Gratton, Bernard Thomas,
Merle Peterson and Clarence Pursley.
Honorary bearers were Henry Pagel, Henry
Martens, Henry Franzen, Jake
Siemens, John Bonebright and George Vande Ven.
Soloist was Robert Armstrong with
Gladys Burkhartsmeyer as organist.
