Nellie Martin

   Following a brief illness, Nellie (Boe) Martin, 89, went to be with the Lord on May 28, 2003. It was her wish to be cremated and her family shared a simple rite of passing with graveside services at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, in the Har­lem Cemetery.

   Nellie was born on Septem­ber 18, 1913, to Henry and Maude (Healy) Boe in the family home on Peoples Creek. She was the second of 11 children born to the family and she attended school at the St. Paul’s Mission School at Hays, the Fort Belknap School, plus schools in Flandreau, SD and Chemawa, OR.

   On May 6, 1939, Nellie mar­ried William Martin and they raised their six children together:  Donald F. (Irene) Martin of Cut Bank. Patricia (Jack) Quisno of Harlem, John Martin of Billings, Kathleen (Garry) McGuire of Harlem. Michael (Evelyn) Martin of Helena and Wilma Jean (deceased in 1966). She was widowed in 1979.

   Nellie was employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs as a seesetary/clcrk/stenographerlbook keeper until her retirement. Dur­ing her vacations she enjoyed operating the swather in the hay fields for her husband.

   She loved to complete crossword puzzles, crochet, knit and read. She also enjoyed watching sports, cooking shows and news on TV, plus traveling and caring for grandchildren and great grandchildren.

   She is survived by five chil­dren; 17 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; two sisters and. three brothers. She will be greatly missed.
