MEDA MCCARTNEY DIES IN BILLINGS

   Funeral services for Meda E. Buck McCartney, 64, Billings, former Lewistown resident,

were Saturday at the Creel-Morrison-Retz Chapel.

   Mrs. Buck died Wednesday in the Yellowstone Nursing Home after a long illness.

   She was born Jan 19, 1912 in Lewistown, the daughter of Mr and Mrs Alphonso Buck.

   She grew up and attended school in Grass Range.
   She later attended
Western Montana College in Dillion and taught school in the Grass Range area.

   She married Charles McCartney Sr. Dec 27, 1932 in Lewistown. They ranched near Grass Range, retiring two years ago when they came to Billings.

   She was a member of the Montana Education Association.

   Survivors include the widower; a son, Charles McCartney Jr., Billings; two daughters, Mrs Marimavis "Boots" Merry of Circle and Pat Thaut of Billings; three brothers, A.E. and Raymond, both of Great Falls, and Charles W. of Lewistown; seven sisters, Emma Todd of Moccasin, Mrs Opal Benner of Forysth, Mrs Hazel Spencer of Billings. Mrs Mira Loughery of Cincinnati, Oh, Mrs Charlotte Trusty, of Billings, Mrs Maralyn Knapp, of Great Falls and Mrs Marjorie Brenneka of Arlington, Wa, and 10 grandchildren.

   Rev. Robert W. Grilley officiated at the services., Lloyd Bowen sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset" accompanied by Louise Langford, organist.

   Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Bussey, Sonny Smith, Bill Ahlgren, Jerry Thaut, Larry Jordan and Boney Johnson.

   The body was cremated and the ashes were buried in the Buck family plot in the Lewistown City Cemetery.
