Richard Lyle Gilead

  HAVRE - Richard Lyle "Big Daddy" Gilead, 64, a retired truck driver, died Monday at a Havre hospital of complications from diabetes.

  A memorial service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holland & Bonine Funeral Home in Havre, with burial of ashes in Highland Cemetery at Havre. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

  He was born May 17, 1933, in Havre, and attended Burnham Country School near Fresno. He worked as a construction truck driver throughout Montana. After retiring, he began operating Big Daddy Lawn Service.

  In 1965 he married Barbara Fisk in Chinook; they later divorced.

  He was a member of the Eagles, Moose and Elks. He enjpyed auctions, driving and playing bingo and the lottery.

  Survivors include two sons, Lyle Gilead and John Gilead, a daughter, Patty Gilead, all of Havre; a sister, Alice Ridl of Great Falls; three brothers, Tom Gilead, Larry Tonjum and Paul Tonjum, all of Havre; and eight grandchildren.

  HAVRE - Richard Lyle "Big Daddy" Gilead, 64, a resident of Havre, died on Aug. 11, 1997, at a Havre hospital of natural causes.

  Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Holland & Bonine Funeral Home in Havre, with the Rev. Walt Kirkegaard officiating. Interment  of the ashes will be at the  Highland Cemetery.

  Gilead was born May 17, 1933, at Havre, the son of William and Luella (Thomas) Gilead. He attended Burnham Country School near Fresno.

  He worked as a construction truck driver all over Montana.

  On May 15, 1965 at Chinook, he married the former Barbara Fisk. On Nov. 20, 1080, the couple divorced.

  He was a member of the Eagles Club, Moose Club and Elks Club all of Havre.    His hobbies were auctions and bidding on different items. He also loved to  drive his car.

  After his retirement he started the Big Daddy Lawn Service.

  He was preceeded in death by his parents, two sisters, one son, and one grandchild.

 He is survived by two sons, Lyle Gilead and John Gilead, a daughter, Patty Gilead, all of Havre; a sister, Alice Ridl of Great Falls; three brothers, Tom Gilead, Larry Tonjum and Paul Tonjum, all of Havre; and eight grandchildren.

 Memorials in Gilead's honor may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

  Holland and Bonine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
