Vaughn L. "Lin" McGuire

  HARLEM - Vaughn L. "Lin" McGuire, 69, a former custodian, died Wednesday at a

Chinook nursing home.

  His funeral is 3 p.m. Friday at Harlem High School's little gymnasium, with

burial in Harlem Cemetery.

  He was born May 22, 1927, in Havre and attended schools in Harlem. In 1954 he

married Marion Rusch in Chinook; they later divorced. In 1963 he married

Margaret "Bernice" Montez. He worked for Sundeen Farms, for 20 years at Harlem

Seed Co., and retired in 1991 after 23 years as a custodiam for the Harlem

School District.

  Surviving are his wife of Rocky Boy; daughters Jewell Hawk of Rocky Boy and

Lisa McGuire of Leeds, S.D.; a brother, Bernard McGuire of Harlem; a sister,

Norma Peterson of Harlem; and three grandchildren.

  He died of self-inflicted hanging.                     -end-

July 31, 1996, due to asphyxia by strangulation.

  Funeral services are Friday Aug. 2, at 3 p.m. in the United Methodist Church

with burial following in the Harlem Cemetery.

  McGuire was born to Norman and Edna (Birdwell) McGuire on May 22, 1927, in

Havre.

  He attended schools in Harlem and married Marion Rusch in Chinook in 1954.

They later divorced and he married Margaret Montez in 1963.

  He worked for the Sundeen Farms, 20 years at the Harlem Seed Company, and

retired after 23 years as a custodian for the Harlem School District #12 in

1991.

  He is survived by his wife, Margaret McGuire of Rocky Boy; two daughters,

Lisa McGuire of Leeds, SD, and Jewell Hawk of Rocky Boy; three grandchildren;

one brother, Bernard McGuire of Harlem; one sister, Norma Peterson of Harlem;

and many nieces and nephews.
