KNUTE C. BREKKE
HARLEM -
Knute C. Brekke, 92, longtime builder and contractor of the Harlem area, died
Sunday at
a Havre hospital of natural causes.
Funeral
services will be 10 a.m. Thursday the Evangellcal Chuirch of North America in
Harlem. Burial will be in the Harlem Cemetery. Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook
is in charge.
Born May
1,1902, in Moland, Minn., he moved with his family to Harlem in 1913. In 1932
he married Doris Allen at Little Jewel. He worked at Fort Peck on the dam and
in 1940 he began the construction of the Brekke Block in Harlem.
He also
built several other homes, business buildings, churches and did many repair
jobs. He was instrumental in the design of the present Harlem Library and the
Evangelical Church of North America.
Survivors
include his wife of Harlem, five sons, Charles, George, "Skrud", Alan,
and Richard Blrekke, all of Harlem and Robert Bruce Brekke of Lafayette, La.;
two daughters, Alice Whitaker of Ravensdale, Wash., and Donna Cronk of Harlem;
15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
