FUNERAL HOME PRESIDENT, DIES
Kenneth L. Cron, 70, of 728 W. Greene, retired president of J. C. Cron
&
Sons, Inc., funeral homes here and
in Troy, and vice prisident and director of the Third Savings and Load Co.,
died at 9:15 a.m. today in Piqua Memorial
Hospital. He had been hospitalized
four weeks and in failing health for three
years.
A native of Piqua, born May 16, 1899, he was the eldest of three sons,
Jackson C. and Stella I. Dennan
Cron. He joined his father in the funeral home business after he graduated from
Piqua Central High School following which he attended and graduated from
Cincinnati College of Embalming, and spent a year at Ohio State University. He
passed the State Board of Embalmers in 1920.
In 1936 the business was organized as a partnership between Kenneth and
his
brothers, John C. and Robert D.
Cron, and their father. Later, the partnership was reorganized among the three
sons when their father retired from the business.
When the firm became incorporated in 1969, he became president, retireng
for health reasons Jan. 1 of this year.
Mr. Cron was a former city commissioner, serving the unexpired term of
Ralph Louis from June 1, 1951 to Jan. 1, 1954. He served a number of years as a
Miami County jury commissioner.
He was vice president and director of the Third Savings and Loan for a
number of years and was serving in those capacities at the time of his death.
He was a member of Warren Lodge 24, a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the

Club and Ancient Accepted Scottish
Rite, Valley of Dayton, as well as a member of the Elks, Eagles, Moose,
American Legion and 40 el 8.
He was also an active member of the Piqua Rotary Club, Border City
Luncheon
Club and a director of the YMCA. He
was a member of Westminster Presbyterian
Church and had served on its board
of trustees. He was active on the executive board of the Piqua Community Chest.
For many years Mr. Cron was active in Boy Scout work in the

side is related to one of the very
earliest pioneer families of this section of the county, while on the paternal
side he is a grandson of the founder of the business that eventually becme the
L. C. & W. L. Cron Company, one of Piqua's largest furniture industries. L.
C. Cron was for many years interested
in the manufacture of furniture, as well as being indentified with the retail
end of the business as a merchant, and was a man of sound business principles
and excellent reputation. He and his wife were the parents of three children:
Ella, who married Henry May; Charles, of Columbus, and J. C. After the death of
his first wife, Mr. Cron married Marcella Brown, and they became the parents of
two children: Florence, who is the wife of Doctor Kunkle, of Piqua, and
Clarence.
L. C. Cron, who still survives, has
been a prominent man in this community, and has been interested in local
political affairs for many years, having at one time served as mayor of
Huntersville, and also of Piqua for one term. J. C. Cron was educated in the
