KAREN L. SIMONS
Karen L. Simon, 50 years of age, a child care provider and a R.N., and
also a resident of Havre, died on Aug. 3, 1998 at a Havre hospital of
complications of diabetes. Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 10 at the First
Lutheran Church in Havre with Rev. Walt Kirkgaard officiating. Burial was in
the Turner Cemetery. Memorials in Karen's memory may be made to the Juvenile
Diabetes Association. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
Karen was born on Jan. 1, 1948 at Havre. She was raised in Harlem and
graduated from Harlem High School in 1966. She then attended Northern Montana
College and graduated in 1968 as a registered nurse. Karen then worked at
Northern Montana Hospital.
On July 18, 1970, at Harlem, she married Calvin Simons. Since their
marriage, the couple have lived in Havre. Karen was devoted to her family and
friends. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lillian Dallum;
grandparents, Dan and Edna Hay; aunt, Anna Mae O'Brien; sister, Judy Hay, and
sister-in-law, Sheila Hay.
She is survived by her husband, Calvin Simons of Havre; daughter,
Shannon, and son-in-law, Steve Hetletvedt of Moses Lake, WA; son, Chad Simons
of Forsyth; parents, Blaine and Betty Hay of Harlem; father-in-law and
mother-in-law, Robert and Clara Simons of Joliet; sisters, Patty and Greg
DeSaye of Whitehall, Linda and John Malley of Havre, Connie and Larry Maize of
Tioga, ND; brother, Blaine and Stephanie Hay of Wadena, MN; brother-in-law, Les
Simons of Turner and brother-in-law, Craig and Betty Simons of Dunn Loring, VA;
numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
