Karen S. Mummey

 

  HARLEM -- Karen S. Mummey, 50, a bar owner and operator, died Monday in a car accident one mile north of Harlem.

  Her funeral is 1 p.m. Saturday at American Lutheran Church, with burial in Harlem Cemetery. Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook is in charge of arrangements.

  Survivors include sisters Annie Mummey of Bozeman and Janice Gilham of Harlem; brothers Larry Mummey of Billings, Leslie Mummey and Ronald Mummey both of Boise, Idaho, and Roger Mummey of Sparks, Nev.

  Additional survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.

  Karen was born Jan. 30, 1952, in Havre, Mont. She graduated from Harlem High School and attended Montana State University at Bozeman for two and a half years.

  She worked for the Harlem Police Department for 15 years, managed Kennedy's Bar and later purchased the bar from her father in 1990.

  Karen enjoyed collecting bells and cats, and was involved in the editing and gathering of information for the publication of "Thunderstorms and Tumbleweeds" for eastern Blaine County.

  She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Mildred Mummey.

  Memorials are suggested to the American Lutheran Church in Harlem.

  Karen was generous to family, especially her nieces and nephews and will be dearly missed.

   HARLEM - Karen Sue Murnmey, 50, a Harlem bar owner and operator, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, one mile north of Harlem on Montana Highway 241 due to a single-vehicle accident.

   Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. the American Lutheran Church with burial follow­ing In the Harlem Cemetery.

   Karen was born on Mummey Jan. 30, 1952, in Havre to Melvin and Mildred (Jensen) Mummey. She attended schools in Harlem and graduated from Harlem High School. Karen spent two and a half years attend­ing MSU-Bozeman in the nursing program.

   She worked for the Harlem Police Department for 15 years,

managed Kennedy’s Bar and later purchased the bar from her father in 1990.

   Karen enjoyed studying Harlem history and genealogy, collecting bells and cats, and was involved in the editing and gather­ing information for the publication of “Thunderstorms and Tumbleweeds” for eastern Blame County.

   Karen was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post #4744. She was generous to her family, espe­cially her nieces and nephews.

   Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Mildred Mummey.

   Survivors include her sisters, Annie Mummey of Bozeman and Janice Gilham of Harlem; broth­ers, Larry Mummey of Billings, Leslie Mummey and Ronald Mummey, both of Boise, Idaho, and Roger Mummey of Sparks, Nev.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Karen Mummey

  Karen Sue Mummey, 50, Harlem bar owner and operator, died- on Monday, November 23, 2002, in a single car accident one mile north of Harlem on Highway 241. Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 30, at 1:00 p.m. in the American Lutheran Church in Harlem, with Pastor Scott Hedegaard officiat­ing. Pianist was Carla Becker and soloist was Ann Kuntz. Duane Tangen and Reuben Kuntz served as ushers. Burial followed in the Harlem Cemetery and pallbearers were Mike Neely, Robert Adams, Fred Liese, Dar­win Zellmer, Kim Fuzesy, Rich­ard Brekke, John Cowell and Wallace Mummey.   Memorials may be sent to the American Lutheran Church. Arrangements were by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
