JEWELL CEDERBERG

Cederberg

TURNER - Jewell C. Cederberg, 96, died Thursday, July 8, 2004, at a Havre care center.

A funeral service was scheduled for 3 p.m. today in the Turner American Lutheran Church with burial following in the Turner Cemetery.

Jewell was born in Springfield, Mo., on May 22, 1908, to Benjamin and Mettie (Tranthan) Adams. When she was 5, Jewell and her family moved to Glasgow to homestead. She attended both rural and city schools at Glasgow.

On Oct. 5, 1927, she married Aben Cederberg in Wolf Point. They farmed near Glasgow until 1929, when they moved to the Turner community and continued to farm for many years.

Being a mother and farm wife took up most of Jewell's early adult life. She always enjoyed gardening, raising flowers and doing handiwork, quilting, crocheting, cruel and embroidery. Jewell contributed many hours to the American Legion Auxiliary and served as a Girl Scout leader for several years. One of her greatest joys was furnishing fresh flowers for both of the Turner churches.

Jewell had been a resident at the Northern Montana Care Center since Feb. 20, 1998. She carried on an active life during her tenure at the care center, attending the many social events, playing bingo every Monday and Thursday, and attending church services. She loved all holidays, especially Christmas.

Jewell was preceded in death by her husband, Aben in 1969; parents; one grandson; four brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include her children, Leon (Nellie) Cederberg of Great Falls, Donna (Mel) VanWechel of Apache Junction, Ariz., Brice (Glenna) Cederberg of Stevensville, Theresa Cowan of Havre, Larry (Roberta) Cederberg of Turner; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be sent to the American Legion Auxiliary in Turner, the Turner Park or one's choice.

Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
