FUNERAL HELD FOR HERTHA BRANDT, 82
Hertha Emma Brandt, 82, Rudyard died in the
Liberty County Hospital Friday afternoon of natural causes. She was born in
Stewart, Minn. Apr. 12, 1896 to Gustav and EmiIie (Wendland) Krueger. In her younger years her family moved
several times so she attended schools in Minnesota, North Dakota and Montana.
She came to the Rudyard area from Valley City, N.D. in 1910. On June 25,
1913 she married Ernest Carl Brandt who homesteaded in the northwest Hingham
area. The product of that marriage was four boys. Ernest died in 1953. She
later sold the farm to the boys who still operate it
She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and the A.L.C.W. in
Rudyard, and was a past member of the Hingham Lutheran Church. She had also
been active in the Royal Neighbors of America, Hingham branch. She excelled at
cooking and baking and was an avid reader in recent years.
She is survived by three sons, Irvin and Robed of Rudyard and Wilmar of Elizabeth. 114 one sister, Mrs.
Lydia Langel of Rudyard; two brothers, Waldmer and George Krueger of Rudyard; 11 grandchildren;
six great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded
in death by her parents, husband, son Loren in 1948, one sister and three
brothers.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tues. at Our Savior’s Lutheran
Church in Rudyard with Rev. Timothy Solberg presiding. The congregation sang “I
Love to Tell the Story,” “Just As I Am,” ‘Nearer My
God to Thee,” and “How Great Thou Art”
Pallbearers were grandsons: Robert E., Clyde, Gary, Loren and Terry
Brandt, and Bill Henry. Ushers were grandsons Darryn
and James Brandt.
Interment was in the Rudyard cemetery.
