Herman O. Vogel, age 83, of Billings, died of
natural causes in his home on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006.
He was born Oct. 13, 1922, in Underwood, N.D. The family moved to Park City,
where he met and married the love of his life, Virginia Lerche,
on Feb. 2, 1946, and they made Billings
their home.
Herman served in the U.S.
Army as an automotive technician in Italy during WWII. While serving,
he received honors as a sharpshooter with an M1 rifle. He drove truck for 35
years, making in-town deliveries for United Buckingham and Consolidated
Freightways.
Herman was an accomplished bowler and at the age of 80,
received his 300 pin. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping and
traveling.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; two brothers and a sister.
Survivors include his siblings, Lydia,
Leonard, Jake and Emma; his son, Michael and wife June Vogel; two grandsons,
Shawn and Chad
Vogel; and numerous other nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitations will begin at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15, at the Smith Downtown
Chapel, 925 S. 27th St.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17, at the Smith
Downtown Chapel, with interment and military honors to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
