EUGENE A. SOHM
HAVRE - Eugene A. Sohm, 70, a military vteran and retired railroad
worker, died of narural causes Sunday at a Havre Hospital.
A memorial service is 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church.
Holland & Bonine Funeral Home is in charge of cremation and arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Havre Senior Citizens Center.
Born March 27, 1928, in Danbury, Iowa, he moved to Montana in 1939 and
served in the Marine Corps.
In 1951 he went to work for the Burlington Northern Railroad as a
machinist. He retired from there in 1988 after 37 years.
In 1953 he married MaryEtta Whitmyer in Billings.
He was active in the Havre Senior Citizens Center and in 1996 he and his
wife were chosen senior citizens of the year. He enjoyed nature and sports.
Survivors include his wife of Havre; a son Gary Sohm of Phoenix; his
step-mother, Clara Sohm of Minot, N.D.; three brothers, Leon Sohm of Danbury,
Iowa, Claire Sohm of Big Sandy and Duane Sohm of Havre; a sister, Bonnie
Burkmeier of Lake City, Iowa; and two grandchildren.

HAVRE - Eugene A. Sohm, 70, died Sunday, July 5, 1998, at a Havre
Hospital of natural causes.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church
with Rev. Kenneth Green officiating.
Sohm was born March 27, 1928, to Frank and Leonalla (Dirkx) Sohm, in
Danbury, Iowa, The family came to
Montana in 1939.
He served four years in the Marine Corps and was discharged in 1948. He
worked as a machinist for the Burlington Northern Railroad from 1951 to 1988.
He married MaryEtta Whitmyer on Oct. 3, 1953, in Billings.
Sohm enjoyed nature and sports and was active in the Havre Senior
Citizens Center. In 1996 he and his wife were chosen senior citizens of the
year.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother Vernon Sohm.
He is survived by his wife, MaryEtta Sohm of Havre; one son Gary Sohm of
Phoenix; three brothers, Leon Sohm of Danbury, Iowa, Claire Sohm of Big Sandy
and Duane Sohm of Havre; one sister, Bonnie Burkmeier of Lake City, Iowa; a
step-mother, Clara Sohm of Minot, N.D.;and two grandchildren, any many nieces
and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Havre Senior Citizens Center or the donor's
choice.
