FLORENCE E. WALTERS
BIG SANDY - Florence E. Walters, 91, a resident of Big Sandy, died of
natural causes Dec. 20, 1998.
She was born June 8, 1907, the daughter of William and Agatha Brockeslby
in Stanley, N.D. Her family later moved to the Havre area.
She attended grade school at Fresno and graduated from Havre High School
in 1927.
She married Joseph Walters in 1946 in Great Falls. The couple in Big
Sandy and later moved to Great Falls.
The couple also lived in St. Louis and Chicago due to Joe's government
job. The couple returned to Big Sandy following Joe's retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Joseph, in
1988, two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by one sister, Marge Jacobson, Eugene, Ore.; eight
nieces and nephews on the west coast; and one cousin, Ann Flathers of Havre.

BIG SANDY - Former Big Sandy Senior Citizen of the Year Florence E.
(Brockeslby) Walters, 91, died Dec. 20 in Big Sandy of natural causes.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at the
Rohrer United Methodist Church in Big Sandy. Interment of ashes will be in the
spring at the Big Sandy Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Big Sandy Medical
Center. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
She was born June 8, 1907, in Stanley, N.D. Her family later moved to
the Havre area, and she attended grade school at Fresno and graduated from
Havre High School in 1927.
In 1946, she married Joseph Walters at Great Falls. The couple lived in
Big Sandy and later, moved to Great Falls, St. Louis and Chicago.
The couple retired to Big Sandy.
Walters held various offices in the Big Sandy Senior Citizens Center and
had been Big Sandy's Senior Citizen of the Year, a member of the VFW Auxiliary
and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Walters was instumental in the Voice of Democracy contest, and enjoyed
playing cards.
Her husband died in 1988. She is survived by a sister, Marge Jacobson,
of Eugene, Ore.
