Thursday Rites Set for Mrs. Elsie Spencer

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Paulin Funeral Home chapel for Mrs. Elsie Merchant Spencer, 84, 1108 W. Main St. The Rev. Glenn Ricketts will officiate, with burial in Woodbine cemetery.

Mrs. Spencer died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Artesia General Hospital.

She was united in marriage June 17, 1908 to Ballard E. Spencer, in Mitchel, Nebr., with Mr. Spencer preceding his wife in death in 1954. The couple came to Artesia in 1924 from Mitchell, with Mr. Spencer active in ranching and farming here.

Mrs. Spencer was a member of the Artesia First Christian Church.

Survivors include two brothers, Lon D. of Capitan and J. Leroy of Artesia; two nephews and three neices.

Pallbearers will be J. D. Smith, Lowe Wickersham C. C. Conner Sr, Britton Coll and Clark Storm.
