CHARLIE THOMAS RETIRED FARMER PASSES
AWAY
Charlie R. Thomas, 82, retired Hill County farmer, died at the home of
his
son, Clyde R. Thomas, 903 Second
street, early Sunday morning. Funeral services
will be conducted at 2 pm Tuesday at
the Holland and Bonine funeral home.
Born July 25, 1875 in Hazelgreen, WI, Mr Thomas moved to Britt, Iowa in
1879
where he lived with his family. He
was married to Marie Trulson in Britt on
March 8, 1905.
Mr Thomas was one of the early day pioneers who unlimited faith in
Montana.
He came in an emigrant car on the
Great Northern railroad in the spring of 1910
to Montana and homesteaded two miles
south of Fresno. Unitl his retirement a
few years ago, he was engaged in
numerous business ventures including the
establishment of the First National
Bank and the Fresno Land and Cattle Co. He
was
a grain buyer for the Gallatin Valley Milling Co. for 20 years at Fresno
and also operated a wheat farm, real
estate and insurance business until the
time of his death.
Survivors include one son, Clyde R., Havre; a foster son, Del Trulson,
Kremlin, and one brother, Frank,
Havre. His wife preceded him in death on
October 26, 1957. He was also
preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer,
Edgar, and Oscar, and a sister,
Mabel.
Mr Thomas was a member of Enterprise Lodge No 134, AF&AM, and the
Presbyterian Church.
