BILLINGS - Charles E. Felton, 72, Ballantine died Friday at a convalescent care center in Billings.

He was born Aug. 9, 1921, south of Havre, in the Bear Paw Mountains, on the Diamond-Bar Ranch, the son of Robert and Stella Felton. In 1944 he moved to a ranch on Lost Boy Creek south of Pompeys Pillar.

 In 1945, he met an(( married Lucille Sherrodd in Billings. In 1946, they moved to the P-Cross Ranch south of Havre where they lived until fall 1950. They returned to the Pompeys Pillar area and ranched on Fly Creek, until they sold and moved onto a ranch south of Ballantine in 1978, remaining there the rest of his life.

He was devoted to cattle ranch­ing, and enjoyed children and meet­ing people.

He was a member of Huntley Project Masonic Lodge 144 in Worden, and the Scottish Rite Temple and Al Bedoo Shrine of Billings. He was a member of the Ballantine U.C.C. Church. He was proud of his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille; son Bill and his wife,, Barbara; three grandchildren Amanda, Nickolas and Tony; two sisters, Ruth Dion of Bethesda, Md., and Nettie Welborn and her hus-4 band Dean,. of Dillon; a brother John Felton and his wife Jean, of Missoula; 10 nieces; and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a younger brother, Harry.

Pallbearers for the funeral were Harry Olsen, Jack and Edward Felton, Bill Young, Ted Solomon and Leonard Majerus.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. today at the Ballantine U.C.C. Church.

Interment was in Pleasantview Cemetery in Ballantine.

Smith Downtown Chapel of Billings was in charge of arrangments.
