HOWARD GARRAHAN

    Howard G. “Buck” Garrahan, 82, of Havre died Monday, Sept. 18, 2006, at a Havre hospital of natural causes.
    His funeral service will be held at 2 p. m. Monday at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel with Pastor Brad Ulgenes officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship will be held at the VFW Club immediately after the services at the graveside.

   Buck was born Oct. 24, 1923, in Missoula. He was raised and educated in Missoula. He moved with his family to Havre, where his father owned and operated Havre Greenhouse. Buck attended Havre High School and graduated in 1934.

    Buck married Alyce Krejci on Nov. 26, 1941, in Sheridan, Wyo. He entered into the U.S. Army in August of 1942.

    Buck served in World War II and received the Bronze Star. He was honorably discharged in November of 1945. Buck returned to Havre and worked at the Havre Greenhouse. In 1967, he and Alyce purchased the business and changed the name to Garrahan’s Greenhouse. Together they operated the business until retiring in 1984. Buck enjoyed hunting, fishing and fossil collecting, his coffee at the 4-B’s and visiting with people. Buck always had a smile and a good story to share.

    Buck was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Margaret.

    Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Alyce Garrahan of Havre; daughters, Patty (Terry) Boucher of Havre and Dr. Sharon Walen (Dr. Brett Crow) of Boise, Idaho; brother, Bill Garrahan of Havre; and three grandchildren.

    Memorial contributions in Buck’s honor may be made to V. F.W. Post No. 498 in Havre. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
