BESSIE CLARK, 85
Bessie T. Clark, 85 Bigfork, died in Kalispel Regional Hospital
Wednesday
morning.
She was born March 31, 1900, in
Britt, Iowa, a daughter of Frank L. and Eva Mae Thomas. She moved with her
family to Montana and attended school in Havre.
On June 14, 1919, she married John H. Childers in Havre. They lived in
Whitefish for a time before moving
to Freasno, Montana.
She carried mail with a Model T Ford in summers and a sleigh and horses
in the winter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John.
On September 17, 1926, she married Lee F. Clark of Havre. Thet
homesteaded north of Fresno, and later moved to Kremlin, where she cooked at
the hotel. Later they moved to Hinsdale, where she cooked on a ranch.
During World War II, they moved to Vancouver, Washington, where they
both
worked in the shipyards. Then they
moved to Portland, Oregon.
Following the death of her husband, Lee, Mrs Clark went to the
Philippines to be with her son, Don. She lived there 14 months.
She returned to Ukiah, California, where she lived with her son, Bob,
for
four years. She then returned to
Montana, spending her winters in Mexico and a time in Port Orchard, Washington.
She lived in Martin City, Montana for a time before entering Montana Veterans
Home in Columbia Falls.
Eight years ago she moved to the Bigfork Convalescent Center.
She enjoyed ceramics, china painting and cooking.
She was preceded in death by two sisters; a brother; and three children,
Lorraine Daley, John H. Childers Jr,
and Donald L. Clark.
She is survived by a son, Robert L. Childers of Anacortes, Washington; a
daughter, Viola Dedman of Bigfork;
two sisters, Frances Inman of Havre and
Helene Wynn of Mesa, Arizona; 27
grandchildren and numerous
great-grandchildren.
No public services are being planned. Cremation and arrangements are by
Johnson Mortuary.

Memorial services are pending for Bessie Luetta Clark, 85, of Bigfork.
She died November 27 at the Bigfork Convalescent Home after a long illness.
Cremation has taken place with
Johnson Funeral Home of Kalispell handling the
arrangements.
Mrs Clark was born in Britt, Iowa and moved to the Fresno area west of
Havre in 1912 where her parents
homesteaded. She was married to Harrison
Childers and later to Lee Clark. She
was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Clark and John "Mickey"
Childers, and a daughter, Mrs John (Lorraine) Daly and two sisters, Evelyn
Johnson and Ilene Haxton.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs Herb (Viola) Dedman of Woods Bay; a
son, Robert Childers of Anacortes, Washington; sisters, Frances Inman of Havre
and Mrs Jack (Helene) Wynn of Mesa, Arizona; and several grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
