Friday  Services To Be Conducted for B. E. Spencer

 

Funeral serrvices for B. E. "Bal" Spencer, long time resident of Artesia, will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Orvan E. Gilstrap, pastor, officiating.

 

Spencer died about 1:30 a.m. today at the Artesia General Hospital.  He was 75 years old and lived at 1108 West Main prior to his death.  Burial will be in Woodbine cemetery with Paulin Funeral Home in charge oif arrangements.

 

Born in Big Stone Gap, W. VA, Feb 3, 1879, Spencrt came to Artesia in 1924.  He operated a ranch in the area for some time before taking up real estate and oil lease activities.

 

He was a member of the First Christian Church, a lifelong member of the Elks Lodge and was married to the former Miss Elsie Merchant.

 

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. B. E. Spencer, Artesia; three brothers, Carl of Wyoming and Jim and Bud of Montana; two sisters Mrs. E. K. Williams, Gaskland, MO, and Mrs. J. E. Thomas, North Kansas City, MO.

 

Pallbearers include J. A. Fairey, O. R. Jacobs, Albert Richards, Marshall Rowley, John E. Cockran, Jr., George Ferriman, Lee Francis, C.  C. Nelson and B. R. Gorman.
