Arther F. Tilleman

  CHINOOK - Arthur F. Tilleman, 90, a retired farmer and rancher, died of natural causes Sunday at a Chinook nursing home.

  Vigil services are 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church. Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Gabriel's, with burial in Kuper Memorial Cemetery. Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook is in charge of arrangements.

  Tilleman was born Sept. 10, 1907, in Superior, Wis. His family moved to the Chinook area in 1912, and attended Fairview School south of Chinook.

  In 1930 he married Marie M. Zich in Chinook.

  He spent his life farming and ranching west of Zurich. He served on the board of directors for Farmers Union Co-op and also on the Zurich school board.

  Survivors include his wife of Chinook; a daughter, Alice Johnke of Loveland, Colo.; two sons, William A. Tilleman of Cardson, Alberta, and Arthur J. Tilleman of Zurich; two sisters, Juliette Acher of Chinook and Lena Burkland of Havre; 10 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granchild.

Arther Tilleman

  Arthur F. Tilleman, 90, passed away of natural causes on Sunday, April 5, 1998, at the Sweet Memorial Nursing Home in Chinook. Vigil services will be  Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, April 9, 1998, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gabriel's, with burial following in Kuper Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.

  Art was born September 10, 1907, in Superior, Wisconsin to John J. and Stephanie (D'Hooge) Tilleman. He came to Montana with parents in 1912, and attended Fairview School south of Chinook.

  On Nevember 27, 1930 he married Marie M. Zich in Chinook.

  For sixty years he farmed and ranched west of Zurichand was active in the co-operative movement supporting the  Farmers Union Co-op and served on the on the Board of Directors. Art also served on the Zurich School Board.

  Survivors include his wife, Marie, of Chinook; one daughter, Alice Johnke of Loveland, CO; two sons, William A. Tilleman of Cardson, Alberta, Canada  and Arthur J. Tilleman of Zurich; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granchild; two sisters, Juliette Acher of Chinook and Lena Burkland of Havre.

  He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
