TURNER - Arthur Eugene "Gene" Sanguins,
81, lifelong farmer and rancher on the Big Flat, died Monday of natural
causes at Hi-Line Retirement Center
in Malta.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Monday in the Turner
High School gymnasium followed by
burial with military honors in the Turner
Cemetery. Edwards
Funeral Home of Chinook is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include daughters Patsy Lee (Terry) Reece of Eureka
and Cindy Lou (Dale) Christman of Whitewater; sons
Terry Dale (Miriam) Sanguins of Denton
and Eugene Kenneth (Karen) Sanguins of Florida; a sister,
Isabelle Getten of Turner; 14 grandchildren and 14
great-grandchildren.
Gene was born December 3, 1924, in Harlem to
Archie and Effie Sanguins. He attended school and
graduated from Turner
High School in 1943.
Gene served in the U.S.
Navy during World War II from June 11, 1943, to March 5, 1946.
Eugene married Bella Mae Shaw on February 19,
1949, in Dover, N.H. He lived all of his life on the Big
Flat engaged in farming and ranching and had been a bus driver for the Turner
Public Schools for 40 years. He loved his horses and always had a dog with
him. For the past year he had been residing in the Hi-Line Retirement
Center.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bella Mae Sanguins,
in 1997; brothers Walter and George Sanguins; and
sisters Margaret Edwards and Irene Hart.
