Froze to Death

Archie Graham, son of the late John Graham, living near Patterson’s Mills south of the city, was found dead Sunday morning in a ditch near the road leading to his home.  An empty bottle was found at his side.  He was probably overcome by its contents, and being unable to reach home died of exposure.

GRAHAM. – Dec. 5, 1885, of exposure and cold, on the road near his home.  Archiibald, youngest son of the late John and Margaret Graham, aged 36 years, 3 months and 14 days.

Sad indeed is it for one’s soul to be ushered into eternity without a moment’s warning.  Archie, though wayward, had many friends, and he was the friend of everyone but himself.  When he met with death, he was on the way home to his aged mother, that mother who always had a warm place in her heart and by the fireside for him.  He was the youngest of her nine children, six of whom are still living.  This aged mother is now nearly fourscore years old and is waiting to answer the call of her Maker; her prayer to live and see her boy laid to rest, having been answered.  That the Comforter may come and bring peace to this aged and stricken mother, and to the large circle of brothers and sisters in their sad bereavement is the prayer of their many friends and neighbors.
