Alva L. Stevens Sr.

   Alva L. Stevens, 92, died Tuesday afternoon at the Central Montana Hospital after a short illness.

   Stevens was born November 10, 1888 to James and Mary Emaline Stevens in Waco, Neb. He also received his schooling there.

   In 1908, Stevens went to Colorado with his mother and later moved to Roy where he homesteaded. He then moved west of Lewistown and then back to Alliana, Neb. where he worked for Burlington Railroad. After his mother's death, Steven's  moved to Straw where he married Jane L. Lefferts on June 25, 1925.

   He then built and operated the Stevens Garage in 1929.

   In 1930, he went with the co-op and was with them until his retirement in 1961.

   Stevens was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and daughter, Margie.

   Survivors include daughters Mrs. John (Marie) Vanek of  Havre; Mrs. Charles (Virginia) Marvin of Billings; Mrs. George (Linda) Barthol of Aurora, Co; Evelyn Rel of Englewood, Ca; Lois Stevens of Trevor, Wi; Catherine Haworth of Fort Collins, Co.; and Capt. Diana Stevens of Fort Benjamin, In. Sons include Alva Stevens Jr of Great Falls; Robert Stevens of Missoula; James Stevens of Holiday, Tx; Donald Stevens of

Lewistown; Ted Stevens of Lakewood, Co; and John Stevens of Sandy, Ut.

   Stevens is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren,

and one sister, Bessie of Fresno, Ca.

   Funeral Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. by Pastor Harold Dover.

   Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
